Pedometer is a wonderful device that can keep you active without any hassle. To make the most of using a pedometer, you need to have a strategy. The best way of improvement is to set daily and weekly goals and work towards achieving these goals. You have to start with a baseline number. To decide on a baseline number, wear the device for one week or so. Do not set any number of steps to make during that period. You just need to know what is the average number of steps you actually make on any given day. Record the number of daily steps before going to bed. Calculate the average number of steps you make. Now start to increase the average by adding a little more walk. Try to set a goal of increasing the daily steps by 500 to 1000. It can be accomplished without that much hard work only if you take a little walk around the street at afternoon or park your car a little further away or go somewhere on feet rather than driving. Add 500 to 1000 steps every one or two weeks until you reach at least 10,000 steps a day.
