Indian Food in the UK( Scotland & England )
Indian food continues to grow in popularity from throughout the world. In addition, it has been a staple in and around Scotland since 1809 when the first Indian food was served in coffee houses. It wasn’t until the 1940s and again in the 1970s, however, when the number of curry houses really began to increase. Today, Indian food is a very popular cuisine in Britain coming only after Chinese and Italian food in terms of popularity. In fact, chicken tikka masala is now considered one of the most popular dishes in all of England.
In the Victorian era, however, it was when Britain started borrowing from Indian dishes in terms of spices and other herbs to create new dishes that had never been seen before. Today, the same tradition continues with Indian chefs borrowing from local flavors and the freshest ingredients available in order to bring patrons the best of Indian food.
